
Wadi Qana on May 1, 2012, the day an order by the Civil Administration to uproot 1,400 olive trees belonging to nine Palestinian farmers in the area came into effect.While Israeli authorities claim the trees must be uprooted to make room for a nature reserve, the move is part of an ongoing effort to establish and maintain Israeli sovereignty over the area while at the same time depriving the local Palestinian farmers of the means to survive.
