Israeli colonial forces continue pounding the Gaza Strip for a fifth day. On the morning of October 7, the Palestinian resistance led by Hamas launched a surprise attack called the Al-Aqsa Flood operation. After firing thousands of rockets towards the lands occupied in 48, hundreds of fighters from the Gaza Strip raided Israeli military facilities and settlements through land, air and sea. Hundreds of Israeli settlers were killed, thousands were injured and and unknown number were taken hostage. In response, Israeli colonial forces declared complete siege on the Strip, denying the enclave’s two-million residents access to food, water, fuel and electricity. Since, hundreds of airstrikes were launched, killing many hundreds. Tens of thousands of Gaza's residents were displaced as result of the bombings, many of them for the second or third time. 80% of the Strip's residents are refugees from towns and villages depopulated in 1948. As of the fifth day of fighting, at least 1,055 Palestinians were killed in the Gaza Strip and at least 23 more in the West Bank. At least 1,200 Israelis were killed.
