In that attack, the Israeli colonial forces fired missiles into a tent camp for displaced people in an area that was designated as a "safe zone". At least 45 people were killed, most of them children and women, many of them burned alive, and 249 wounded. The attack came only three days after the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ordered Israel to immediately halt its military assault on the southern Gaza city of Rafah, triggering an International outcry and worldwide demonstrations.
