At the European Hospital, bodies of Palestinians who were killed by Israeli airstrikes last night in Khan Yunis during Israel’s massive bombardment across Gaza, shattering the ceasefire with Hamas, March 18, 2025. The victims are from the Jaroun, Al-Tawil, and Abu Al-Tayr families. At least 412 Palestinians have been killed as Israeli colonial forces continue their attacks on Gaza, and the death toll rises, with many more people buried under the rubble and still unaccounted for. Attacks took place across Gaza; in Khan Younis and Rafah in the south; Gaza City in the north; and Deir el-Balah in central Gaza. Hospitals in Gaza, which have received hundreds of injured Palestinians, are low on basic medical supplies, as last week Israel completely cut the entry of humanitarian aid and cut of electricity. The Activestills collective was established in 2005 by a group of documentary photographers, out of a strong conviction that photography is a vehicle for social change. We believe in the power of images to shape public attitudes and to raise awareness on issues that are generally absent from public discourse.
We view ourself as part of the struggle against all forms of oppression, racism, and violations of the basic right to freedom. We do work on various topics, including the grassroots movement and the popular struggle against the Israeli occupation, women’s rights, immigration, asylum-seekers, social justice, the siege on Gaza, and housing rights inside Israel.
