Activists demonstrate outside the Tel Aviv Magistrate’s Court, '48 Palestine, against the detention of Abed Abu Shehadeh, a Palestinian journalist, podcaster and political activist from Jaffa, 4 November 2026. The court has extended his detention until 8 November. The previous night, 15 Israeli police officers raided Abu Shehadeh’s home and arrested him in front of his family. The court granted the extension even though the interrogation focused exclusively on a pre-election interview he conducted with former MK Dr Azmi Bishara in Qatar. He returned from Qatar last week, where he also provided analysis for Al Jazeera on the Israeli election. His lawyers said the arrest is part of an ongoing campaign to delegitimise the Palestinian vote in the recent Israeli elections, and an attempt to silence all Palestinian journalists.
