The morning after President Donald Trump committed to recognizing Israeli sovereignty over parts of the West Bank during the release of his much-awaited Middle East peace plan, Palestinians protested the deal that would annex the Jordan Valley, the breadbasket of their territory, by motoring trackers through an Israeli checkpoint.

Ali and Narmeen Abu Seif are newlyweds in the time of pandemic. Their wedding was initially set for March 28 in one of Gaza’s big wedding halls; but then the strip’s Interior Ministry announced restrictions to contain the spread of the new coronavirus, closing party venues, restaurants and cafes, and gyms, as well as canceling Friday prayers at mosques.

This Gaza factory once made kids’ clothes. Now it makes protective suits

When the new coronavirus reached Gaza, Alaa Qreiqea decided he would repurpose his children’s clothes factory to make protective suits. His workshop now produces about 400 suits a day, which are sold to essential workers inside the strip as well as in the West Bank and Israel.

Palestinian teen shot in head by Israeli forces delayed en route to hospital

Last Thursday, Israeli soldiers shot Muhammad Shtewi, 15, in the head with a rubber-coated steel bullet while he was spending time with friends at a public spring near Kufr Qaddum, a Palestinian village in the West Bank. The teen is now hospitalized at the intensive care unit of the Hadassah Medical Center in Ein Kerem.

The Activestills collective was established in 2005 by a group of documentary photographers, out of a strong conviction that photography is a vehicle for social change. We believe in the power of images to shape public attitudes and to raise awareness on issues that are generally absent from public discourse.

We view ourself as part of the struggle against all forms of oppression, racism, and violations of the basic right to freedom. We do work on various topics, including the grassroots movement and the popular struggle against the Israeli occupation, women’s rights, immigration, asylum-seekers, social justice, the siege on Gaza, and housing rights inside Israel.
