Omar Shakir, Human Rights Watch Director in Palestine and Israel, accompanied by supporters in Ben Gurion Airport, leaving the country after being expelled by Israel. November 25, 2019. Israel revoked the work visa of Shakir, a United States citizen, in May 2018 on the asserted grounds that his advocacy violated an Israeli law that bars entry to people who advocate a boycott of Israel or its settlements in the occupied West Bank. Shakir is the first International human rights observer expelled under BDS Law.
